But beyond the gloves, belts, and bright lights is another part of Crawford’s legacy: his commitment to giving back.
For Crawford, that work has been especially personal because it is rooted in North Omaha, the community where he grew up.
Building More Than Fighters
One of Crawford’s biggest contributions outside the ring is B&B Sports Academy, the nonprofit organization he co-founded with trainer Brian “BoMac” McIntyre.
The academy provides young people ages 8–18 with boxing and fitness training while emphasizing academics, positive behavior, discipline, and healthy habits. Crawford has also remained personally involved with the youth at the academy, helping teach and mentor young athletes.
The mission goes beyond producing boxers.
It is about giving young people structure, mentorship, and an environment where they can see possibilities beyond their circumstances.
Crawford has explained that growing up, he benefited from people who believed in him and gave him guidance. Now, he sees passing that knowledge to the next generation as part of his responsibility.
Turning His Story Into Inspiration
Crawford's story gives his message another layer.
In 2025, he returned to Omaha to deliver the commencement address at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He spoke about overcoming obstacles, continuing to work toward goals, and remembering where you came from.
He also challenged graduates to give back to their own communities,
That message reflects something Crawford has repeatedly demonstrated:
success doesn't have to mean leaving your community behind.
Instead, his hometown has remained part of his identity.

Opening Doors for Young People
In 2026, B&B Sports Academy expanded its community presence through a partnership with the Omaha Supernovas.
The initiative, called “Crawford’s Corner,” provided tickets for area youth to attend Supernovas home matches, creating another opportunity for young people to experience professional sports and positive community events.
It is another example of how Crawford's influence has extended beyond boxing.
His platform can create opportunities for kids who may not otherwise have access to them.
More Than a Boxer
Crawford's legacy is still being written, but his work with young people provides a glimpse into how he wants to be remembered.
The B&B Sports Academy's philosophy is built around developing the body, mind and character of its members.
championships tell you what an athlete accomplished in competition.
Community work tells you what they choose to do with the platform they earned.
For a fighter who spent years proving himself inside the ring, Crawford is now helping teach another generation how to fight for something outside of it — discipline, opportunity, education, confidence and a better future.
The belts may tell the story of Terence Crawford the champion.
His work in the community tells the story of Bud Crawford the human being.
